Do you know what tech you rely on most in your business? I’d say about 20% of the companies I support are misinformed about what technology they’re using and where their most important business data and operations are held.
Jane’s in accounts.
Jane’s job is to take the emails and photos of receipts and pop them into Sage 50 Accounts for the VAT returns and end-of-years.
Jane’s Sage suddenly stops working and she can no longer access any accounts information nor can she upload the information she needs to which means there’s no chance of filing any accounts whatsoever!
This issue is never resolved and all the data is lost forever. The culprit? Sage wasn’t stored on Jane’s computer, it was hosted on Mike’s computer which was recycled after he left the day before. Sure, they made sure to take a copy of his documents, pictures etc from his computer but nobody thought to back up the crazy path where Sage data is stored because nobody knew it was there!
