🗓️ My First Week

5 July 2025

I’ve officially lost track of how many mugs of coffee I got through this week. Somewhere between “just enough” and “should probably hydrate.” 😅

Things kicked off with a room full of friendly faces at the Monday CAP Business Club, where I introduced AmbroTech. There’s something about talking to local business owners who get it – the long hours, the juggling, the tiny wins that feel massive. I left that room buzzing. Amazing start.

At some point between remote email repairs, a chat about till systems in Cinderford, and a call about software licences (the sort of back-end stuff no one wants to think about), I realised something: people don’t just want tech support. They want a person. Someone they can ring who won’t make them feel daft. Someone who actually answers the phone.

Midweek, I found myself in Coleford, talking through a quoting system I’m building for a client. Every bit of it tailored to how they work, not the other way around. No clunky templates, no one-size-fits-none approach. Just solutions that fit like a glove.

Then came Thursday, and a pleasant doorstep chat with a local fellow in the trade. No hard sells – just two people figuring out how to send each other the right kind of work. That’s the kind of business networking I like. The kind that starts with “how can I help?” rather than “what can I sell?”

Friday was full circle: coffee with Bob Pointer (people hacker), free IT support to some vulnerable adults at a DAISI drop-in, and a surprise call from a client whose laptop had chosen chaos. I fixed it remotely from a corner of the community hall while someone asked me how to claim their tax refund. The balance of chaos and calm was just right.

Somewhere in the middle of all this, I also had a call with a group of gents building something clever for property searches. Big ideas, small steps. I can’t wait to see where the new tool will take them.

I’ve had a few people this week say things like, “I didn’t know anyone around here did this.” And it’s been brilliant to show them that yes – there is a local option now. One that gives a damn about your business, your tech, and your peace of mind.

Security, of course, is always front and centre – the firewalls, the backups, the updates you never see happening. But honestly, most of the value is in the bit where I show up. Whether that’s on-site, on the phone, or just on time.

The tech’s important. But so’s the human behind it.
