Power of Plus Addressing

I accidentally changed a friend’s life this week.

Not with some grand bit of digital transformation.
Not with AI, blockchain, or anything that needs a buzzword.
Just email.

They were complaining about spam, messy inbox rules, and never knowing which company had leaked their email address this time. You know the drill.

So I showed them plus addressing.

Same inbox. Same email account. Zero extra setup.

Suddenly:

  • Inbox rules became trivial
  • Spam sources were instantly obvious
  • Signing up for things can be done over and over again with new emails

The reaction was a mix of disbelief and mild annoyance that nobody had ever told them before.

And that’s the bit I find interesting.

So many tech “problems” people live with every day aren’t solved by buying more software. They’re solved by understanding the tools they already have.

Email has been around for decades. It’s boring. It’s unsexy.
But used properly, it’s still one of the most powerful productivity tools you own.

This is basically my job in a nutshell:

  • Fewer shiny things
  • More quiet improvements
  • Less chaos

Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest difference.

If you didn’t know about plus addressing before today, you’re welcome.
If you did, feel free to enjoy the smug satisfaction quietly!
